Increasingly plastics are being used in special applications for highly corrosive environments as an alternative to high grade Stainless steel and / or corrosion protected mild steel.

 

Plastic can be considered today a cost effective construction material with excellent chemical and corrosion and wear resistance.

 

Polyolefin's extensive use in Australia's mining industry has given rise to many innovative products and applications for plastics, from wear resistant liners in loaders and dump trucks to pipelines tanks  and chutes to name a few. Gradually the wisdom of investing in Polyolefin's for infrastructure is being seen throughout government.

Desalination plants are one example of highly corrosive environments which PE is ideally suited and is becoming increasingly used for pipe brackets and key components that require a significant design life.
