A significant proportion of Australia’s water infrastructure is over thirty years old. Now, more than ever, it is vital that evaporation and seepage losses from this existing infrastructure be minimized.

With our partner Merit Lining Systems, Islex is capable of large scale refurbishment of these existing assets to reduce seepage losses. Coagulant tanks, reservoirs, sedimentation tanks and inlet works can be efficiently lined with HDPE300, the most reliable material in the world for concrete protection. Lining the concrete has the added benefit of protecting the asset from concrete cancer.

Islex also has the capability to design and manufacture floating covers to protect the surface of concrete reservoirs and ponds. The membranes act as a highly insulative barrier to thermal radiation, reducing evaporative losses. They also protect the water from soiling by birds and other insects.
