Scrubbers based on the principle of Carbon absorption work in an entirely different way to wet scrubbing technologies. Instead of supplying a ‘wet’ chemical onto a packed bed to chemically neutralize the gas, the activated carbon itself actually absorbs the chemical.

Activated carbon is able to do this because of its unique structure which provides an enormous surface area per gram of material. Further, the broken carbon chains ensure there are significant Van Der Walls forces that attract Volatile organic compounds and odour producing gasses.

Working in conjunction with specialists in the scrubbing process, Islex engineers are able to manufacture activated carbon scrubbers utilsing chemically resistant Polypropylene.

If required, activated carbon scrubbers can be supplied at the end of a series of one or more wet scrubbers to provide optimum gas cleaning efficiency.
